2 - A Related Blog

Using the Google Blogs search engine I found a blog called Youth Services Corner. It is written by a woman who simply goes by Whitney and she talks a lot about library youth services. She likes to suggest great ideas on how to interact with teens to draw more interest to the library. Here is a piece from a post called "Program Idea: Featuring Local Teens":

"Featuring local teen talent on in-library displays or in programs is a cost-effective way to build community ties and encourage teen participation. Some libraries host battle of the bands competitions and others solicit teen-written material for literary zines. What other ways can you highlight the achievements of local teens?"

One other thing she likes to do on her blog is mention people who have great programs at libraries from across the country.

    1 - Creating My Blog

This blog has been created by me to post all the work I do for my ISAR course. It is important to the course and I am going to show all the exercises I do here for each competency assignment. I am going to try to focus a lot of the blog on relevant topics of interest for each assignment.

I am very interested in child and youth/teen programs in the library. The idea to read should be introduced to a child as early as leaving the hospital and should be built upon as a child grows. This can start with lap sit story time then preschool story time and continue with any other such program that draws a child's interest to reading based on what age level they are at..

I am also looking forward to working full time in a public library.
I am very excited to learn more about how each part of the library has developed and works together to provide and store information.
